Why Process Art Builds More Than Just Creativity

If you’ve ever watched a child create art without worrying whether it’s “good” or “right”, you already understand the magic of process art.

At Faire & Co, we’re not focused on perfect paintings or Pinterest-worthy projects.
We care about confidence. Curiosity. Experimenting. Trying again. And helping kids trust their own ideas.
Because honestly? Some of the most important things happening in our studio have absolutely nothing to do with art.
It teaches kids to back themselves
A lot of children walk into creative spaces already worried about getting things wrong.
They ask questions like:
“Is this right?”
“Can you do it for me?”
“What’s it supposed to look like?”
And we get it. Most of us grew up believing creativity had rules.
But process art flips that whole idea on its head.
There’s no perfect outcome. No exact example to copy. No pressure to make something “beautiful”.
Instead, kids get to make decisions independently, take creative risks and realise their ideas actually matter.
That kind of confidence doesn’t stay in the studio either.
It follows them into classrooms, friendships, sports and everyday life.
Mistakes become part of the process
One of our favourite moments during class is watching a kid accidentally spill paint, smudge something or completely change direction halfway through… and then discover they actually love the result.
Process art creates space for flexibility.
Instead of seeing mistakes as failures, kids learn they can adapt, experiment and problem-solve.
Honestly, that’s a pretty powerful life skill.
Creativity helps kids regulate and reset
There’s also something incredibly calming about creating without pressure.
Kids slow down. They focus. They become completely absorbed in what they’re doing.
In a world where children are constantly overstimulated, overscheduled and rushing from one thing to the next, having space to simply create can feel really grounding.
Sometimes the biggest win in class isn’t even the artwork.
Sometimes it’s seeing a child relax.
We care more about the experience than the outcome
At Faire & Co, the artwork kids take home is lovely.
But what we really hope they leave with is:
confidence
pride
resilience
creative freedom
a sense of belonging
That’s the stuff that sticks.
And yes, there’s usually glitter involved too.
If you’ve been looking for a creative space where kids can experiment, make a mess and grow in confidence while they’re at it, we’d love to welcome you into the studio.
