Looking for toddler activities in Perth that are more than a playground and less than another thing to organise? Faire & Co runs two creative programs for little ones at our studios in North Perth and Kalamunda. Play Cafe is a monthly stay-and-play session for walking age to 4, with a coffee for you. Arty Farty: Pee Wee’s is a weekly art class for 2 to 5 year olds. Both are relaxed, welcoming and built around your child’s pace.
It’s 9.30am on a Tuesday. You’ve already done the park, the library and three laps of the lounge room, and it’s not even morning tea. Sound familiar?
What are the best creative activities for toddlers?
The best toddler activities let little ones explore with their hands and move at their own pace. Think painting, textures, sticking, squishing and simple hands-on materials. There’s no “right” outcome. It’s about curiosity and the proud “look what I did!” moment.
At home that can be a lot of work to set up. That’s where we come in.
What is Play Cafe?
Play Cafe is our monthly stay-and-play session for walking age to 4 years. Your little one explores sensory play, creative materials and simple art activities, then moves into imaginative play setups. You get to sit down with a tea or coffee while it’s still hot.
You stay with your child for the whole session.
We set everything up and take care of the pack down.
Shy kids are welcome to watch first and join in when they’re ready.
Sessions run once a month and spots are limited.
As one North Perth mum told us: “My toddler is completely engaged, and I actually get to sit and enjoy a coffee for once.”
What are Pee Wees art classes?
Arty Farty: Pee Wee’s is a weekly art and craft class for 2 to 5 year olds. Children explore painting, clay, collage and mixed media through projects designed just for their age, while building confidence and independence.
Each week they come back to the same studio, the same teacher and the same little faces. That routine is where the magic happens. The child who clung to you in week one is soon running in to show their teacher something.
Jade, mum of three-year-old Ash, says it best: “My little one loves Fay and her team and his art class is the highlight of his week.”
Are art classes good for toddlers?
Yes. Creative play supports so much of what little ones are learning at this age:
Fine motor skills for holding pencils and getting ready for school.
Confidence and independence from making their own choices.
Language as they talk about colours, textures and what they’re making.
Social skills from creating alongside other children.
Emotional regulation, because calm, absorbing activities help little ones settle.
Which program is right for my child?
Walking to 4, and you'd like to stay and play together: Play Cafe (monthly)
2 to 5, and ready for a weekly class of their own: Arty Farty: Pee Wee's (weekly)
4 to 6 and starting full-time school: Arty Farty: Juniors, the next step up
Many families start at Play Cafe and move into weekly Pee Wees as their child grows in confidence. Same studio, same feel, just a little more structure.
How do we join Pee Wees?
New members start with our Creative & Confident in 28 Days intro, which gives your child four weeks to settle in and find their feet. After that it rolls into a monthly membership, so their weekly spot is always saved. [Book a Pee Wees class] or [save your spot at Play Cafe].
